2016's Wedding Dress Trends

21 June 2016

While wedding style might not change dramatically season to season, here are some noteworthy trends for the 2016 bride. Not getting married? Well, who doesn't love looking at beautiful wedding dresses? (Unless you have a heart of stone, just saying.)

TRADITIONAL IS FOREVER
Think lace, sheer, naked-looking illusion sleeves, sparkly sequins, intricate beading and embroidery can add visual interest.

EXPOSED & ELEGANT
All that gym time has really led the super fit brides towards the total exposure direction. Done right - this look can be super classy. Lots of low & illusion backs as well as peekaboo lace.

UNDERWEAR STYLE BRIDAL-WEAR
With the return of the '90s has also brought body-contouring, corset-topped ball-gowns and slinky slip dresses. Perfect for summer / destination weddings in the tropics. The way to make sure you don’t literally look like you’re in your underwear is to make sure your dress has delicate appliqués and a little sparkle.

EXTREME NECKLINES
With the low sexy back dresses being such a huge hit, a lot of brides love the adventurous neck plunge, but the opposite has also drawn quite the crowd at weddings. Raised necklines with lace, or mock-turtleneck collars have made quite the trend for fall and winter brides and will continue into this 2016.

FLIRTY FEATHERS
Flirty fluttery feathers are another way to make a bridal statement this season. Some designers that have exhibited this trend during bridal fashion week this year include Vera Wang with her cascading ball-gown skirt, but paired it with a bandeau crop top and showed it in all black for a wedding look you can definitely wear again.

WATERCOLOR PRINTS
While last season's soft pastels (and icy Queen Elsa blue) are still going strong, pretty watercolors offer another non-white option for the season. Just make sure your bouquet doesn't clash with the dress.

THE LWD
The modern and more casual bride’s favorite is the little white dress - Easy to wear and repurpose again and can be jazzed up super easily.

PANTS
A pair of well-tailored trousers is bound to give a bride that extra swagger and desired runway silhouette. Both chic & formal, this look is for the bold and confident bride.
